Interviewed by Mickey Z

Posted in Uncategorized on 31/01/2011 by arihn

I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by the political commentator and author Mickey Z, whose work I’ve read for years.   What an honor to share words with someone I admire!  The interview is popping up on many websites, but you can find it here on Dissident Voice, a website I recommend anyways (and have  a certain affection for, as they published an early poem of mine some years ago).

From the interview:

“I want to encourage people to disrupt the paths of least resistance – the political, the social, the personal – and to do so creatively, emphatically, and with love.”

Biggest Month Ever . . .

. . . for this blog, anyway. The most page views in a single month. I’m terrible at updating, and I know this isn’t much of a “blog” in terms of content, so I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to stop by (especially when you leave a comment).

WordPress also lets me know what search terms lead readers to this site, which is always a fun thing to see. Two of the biggest and most consistent search terms are “Neil de Grasse Tyson quotes” and “Jared Leto Sex.” Interesting.

However, my all-time favorite search term that lead sometime to this site: “court in act of masterbaiting by my mom.” Whoever searched for that, please know that I love you.

Sarah Palin reads my Karl Marx poem

To help promote my chapbook “Foreclosure Dogs,” from Winged City/New Sins Press, I created an XtraNormal video of one of the poems.  Unfortunately, the video won’t embed, so you have to follow this link to the video.  And enjoy the poem!

This counts as a review, right?

On Twitter, the poet Dan Nowak calls my soon-to-be-officially-released chapbook Foreclosure Dogsheart wrenching.”   I’m counting that as a positive review – thanks Dan!

The chapbook will officially launch at AWP in DC, or you can order it from the press.   I’ll be posting more complete information on this blog shortly.

Also, pre-ordering is now available for my also-to-be-released at AWP chapbook “America Plops and Fizzes,” a collection of fifty haiku-sized poems.  It features some outstanding artwork from the artist David Munson and has already been mentioned on NewPages and What To Wear During An Orange Alert.

So many nice things happening right now, I am privileged and honored.

New Year/Journal/Poem

Happy New Year!

To celebrate, the inaugural issue of Blast Furnace has been released, with it’s theme of blue-collar poetry.  I haven’t gotten through much of it yet, but so far so very good.   (And yes, I have one in there.  I’m not trying to slip something by you.)
